Adapter Kit to bolt a Land Rover Discovery 3-4 ZF GS6-53 gearbox up to a Td5 engine. Ideal for TD5 owners who wish to upgrade to a 6 speed gearbox in their Discovery 2 or Defender. The kit can also be used to TD5 swap a Discover 3-4 or fit a Td5/6speed manual in custom build applications. This adapter kit coupled with our Land Rover Discovery 3-4 Manual to LT230 Adapter Kit – 78mm thick will make the transmission the same length as the stock TD5 transmission. This means the engine or transfer box will not require moving forward/backward and the stock propshafts can be retained. Complete kit with all components required to mate the engine and gearbox.   Included in the kit: Adapter plate Spigot adapter and bearing Clutch Slave Shim Clutch Cover Shim All the fasteners required to bolt it all together.   Required but not the kit: Complete Td5 engine in manual form, with flywheel and OEM fitment Clutch Cover. Discovery 3-4 Gs6-53 6 speed manual gearbox. OEM Fitment Discovery 3-4 Clutch plate   Things you should assume you’ll need to make: Shifter setup – This may be custom or modified depending on your vehicle. Transmission mount – The stock R380 Left side mount will need to be remade in almost all applications.   Fitting Instructions Bolt the adapter to the Td5 engine. Keep the dust shield in place and fit the 1x6mm bolt on the rear side. ENSURE THAT DOWELS ARE FITTED. Fit starter motor to adapter. Fit crank sensor Fit the spigot bearing adapter into the crankshaft. In some cases the flywheel bolts may need to be removed first to allow the adapter to pass.  Fit the spigot bearing into the adapter. Place the Clutch cover shim over the dowel of the flywheel. Fit a OEM fitment Discovery 3 manual clutch plate. Fit a OEM fitment Td5 manual clutch cover. Fit the Clutch slave shim to the slave cylinder. A small amount of sealant or grease can be used to keep the shim in place during fitting. Fit the gearbox to the engine. ENSURE THAT DOWELS ARE FITTED. Not all bolt holes are used/required. If there is not a hole/thread, you dont need to fit that bolt.
